Hi All

Has anyone tried to fit 205/55/16 tyres on the 16" 6.5 alloys?

Standard is 195/55/16, but the ones in 205 is more accessible (Less Expensive)

Thanks in advance

Why is that?

205 vs 195 has nothing to do with the rolling height of the tyre, only the width..

Can't really see why the width parameter has anything to say?

205/55/16

205 = tyre width in mm
55 = tyre profile ratio 205 x 55% = 112.75mm ( tyre height)
16 = tyre diameter in inches

To calculate rolling circumference

Pi (3.142) x diameter which is 112.75 x 2 + 406.4mm (16") = 631.9mm

= 1985.42mm for above example

This is not super exact but is good enough for working out differences in circumference and therefore changes to gearing

If you find out let me know... I have some 205 55 16 winter tyres from our old car that i want to use! The handbook normally shows alternative wheel/tyre combos that are within tolerance, dunno whether that's the case with the Mini?
