Hello .. could really do with some help

so my MY14 mini one developed the above fault. Headlights work fine and i have manually adjusted them to the right level but of course on trying to move the up/down ..dial the warning light comes on

Bought the car with a warranty wise warranty...(heard mixed things) . and took it to BMW mini who tell me it needs a new wiring harness loom and hose -which is of course going to be a big job

they submit the request to warranty wise...
who of course predictably say its not covered (despite saying they cover electrical issues in their wording)

So the question is can the warning be decoded out? the lights are legal.. i just cannot manually adjust them in the car but is that an issue? I just want to make sure it passes its MOT and surely im not going to need a new wiring loom just for this??
lesson learned .. warranty wise are totally useless

Unfortunately this is probably the single most common fault with ’14-‘16 cars, and it’ll likely get worse as the wiring insulation degrades further. Some people have got Mini to contribute towards the cost so worth asking the dealer about that. In the UK, if you bought the car within the last 6 months from a dealer then you also have some options under the Consumer Rights Act so worth reading up on that.

Ultimately if you get nowhere then I’d look for an independent garage that will do the job for less than the main dealer. I know my local Mini specialist has done loads of these now.

Yep looks like I’m stuffed

I’ll try to get mini to contribute but this will probably be the last mini I buy as a result
Sad as it’s a great car otherwise
