Just taken delivery of my new Cooper S and love it, the truffle leather is beautiful and in my opinion nicer than the black leather as it breaks down the dark headliner and dash.

Thought I had ordered the Harmon Kardon system though, so was shocked to see it not in the car, dealer saying they can retro fit something else, but not HK, will it be worth it? Anyone got the HK system? I couldn't face not taking delivery of the car and waiting any longer

I've got HK in my new ride. I test drove a MINI without it and I'm glad I added it to the build. I know there are a lot of opinions either way here but I have no regrets :)
Thanks, I have done around 80 miles since i posted now and it could definitely do with some more separated bass on certain tracks and thats why it was on my original configuration...oh well 1st world problems ;p

They have said they have a local supplier who can fit under-seat subs and tweeters in the front pillars so guess I will have to wait and see what they come back with.

On another note the Spotify integration via Mini Connected is Awesome! So much better than what my old 13 plate A Class used to do!

The dealer said it would cost around £2000 to retro fit the HK systems because of new a pillars and different brackets required under the seat plus all the other parts and labour.

He is going to contact a specialist car audio company and see what they can retro fit for £590 (cost of HK). Fingers s crossed they come back with a good solution, because i love my music and the speakers are definitely lacking in areas!

Do keep us informed - I'd be interested in finding out what is possible.

Looks awesome, first time ive seen the jcw on anything other than chilli red.

On the sereo who's mistake was it? Did you not order or did they not fit it? If its the latter i would be pushing/insisting on the full HK being fit at their expense, regardless of how much it costs on the options list.

Cheers for replies guys, I wasn't sure about the VO but gambled in the end and love it! It's a real head turner too, is catching a lot it eyes on my drive.

The mistake originated when I was propped on finance as they propped me on an old spec and not the final one which I had emailed over that morning and discussed with them. That mistake then filtered through to order form which I did sign but annoyingly missed the fact HK wasn't on it. (3 pages of options, easy to miss). I know its partly my fault but the dealer also knew I wanted it as we had spoken about it a fair bit. 50/50 blame I suppose.

The good thing is they don't want to see me upset as my GF took delivery of a One the day before so we are "valued customers"

Will let you know what they think they can retro fit, who knows, it may be better than the HK :)

Now that's fantastic. We're similar, wife has a roadster s which is a . V nice combination of cars. I was the same with my options, as I changed spec so many times and as you say easy when there is so much choice to miss something. Glad they are sorting you with something!

Hi all, a quick update. The dealer is giving me £500 cash for the mistake on my order. I will be using this to replace all existing speakers and put an amp and tweeters in.

I will put some photos of the finished upgrade in the audio section in Jan once all installed! Thinking focal at the moment as I know the quality is great!
