Will the dealer not let you have the use of that car until September ??- It would be good to try the car and all the options etc - you may have the opportunity to add or delete something for your ultimate final ( hopefully correct! ) spec

Really bad for that to happen :(

If you have the VIN you can put it into a BMW web site to get a report of the options the car was built with... might help to decide whether to stick with your dealer.
Can you do that in the UK? At what stage can you ask for a VIN.

Terry, sorry to hear your woes. It's been a long list of poor customer service all in all. :(

I'm just lost for words reading this

I feel if I were out in the same situation I would have to definitely leave and be done with it

Despite as I would say taking it for so long it's very difficult just surviving on public transport and walking it - the latter not an issue because I've been used to that since I've been a kid - however planning for journeys a couple of hours at least is time wasted / but I have no choice...

I think no matter how hard the decision was it was the right one i'd do the same but I know I would cancel and not wait again - waited long enough...

As someone said before it would be worth finding out if your dealer is the problem, and if so ditch them and order somewhere else. Do you have a copy of the signed spec agreement for your evidence? If so I would certainly be pushing for compensation with whoever is at fault.

My sales woman told be that if the car gets delivered with the wrong spec then it was submitted with the wrong spec. I am informed the chances of the factory building the wrong spec is very slim. I asked all this a while back because I wanted to know if there was a chance my car could be delivered wrong.

Terrible, terrible. So sorry to hear this. A new car/model is no excuse. You follow and order and get it right, human error at the dealers or factory no doubt.

Can highly recommend my dealer if you want to re order.

The order I signed listed Dark Truffle seats no doubt about that. As for who dropped the **** up don't really care.

The car still has dark truffle on the doors and dash as I ordered, so with the tartan seats it looks like a sh***y accident in a kilt factory.

The extended wait and then this has really taken the shine off it.

The dealer offered a tank of petrol !!!!!

I run my own business and can afford any car I want, within reason. Was getting this so my son (20 years old) could share the driving when he comes with me on business trips.
The insurance company had agreed to it for business use only, which was fine. So it would have been a good solution for us.
My broker hasn't stopped laughing since the day I asked if my son could be put on the insurance of my previous car (Mercedes E Class Coupe CDI 350).

So anyway don't want this one, not prepared to wait another 3 months possibly 4 with the seemingly inevitable delays.

So went round our local VW dealer this afternoon. Can get a comparable Golf in a few days from stock. Not as funky as a Mini but more practical in other ways, 4 doors, bigger boot.

So unless the stealer comes up with a way of persuading me, afraid I'm going to jump ship. Tank of fuel won't do it.

Cheers,

Terry

This isn't just an issue we MINI owners have :(

We went in to collect our new Porsche Boxster GTS yesterday and we too rejected it.

it came early, unannounced, when we were not expecting it until Sept 1st but......

Wrong wheels,
Matt black plastic trims - we ordered gloss
Red seat hoops, we ordered black
no slip diff,
leather steering wheel, knob - we ordered alcantara
no DAB
front and rear parking sensors and camera...we only ordered rear sensors

.....makes us wonder if someone else got our car! Now waiting until nearer Dec for the replacement...fantastic time of year to take delivery of a mid engined, RWD, convertible in NE Scotland.... NOT! At least we've got a few more months to enjoy the C63, every cloud...........

I'll go for that - they are all the same but Porsche?

Oh I forgot - just a posher arm of Audi - don't take it personally Captain - having been an Audi driver for so long...

That's still disgraceful and then you have to wait for December!!!

You might as well change it for a 4x4 or else that Porsche will get stuck in snow!!!

My goodness was the steering wheel on the correct side ?

It really is a joke, there no way that was an accident or indeed un-noticed.

The motor retail sector has no idea when it comes to customer service.

Sorry to see anyone put off the whole experience in this way.

I think I would try and find out if the dealer screwed up... they're more likely to pull something out of the hat if they know you know it was their fault?

This is heartbreaking to read...

In the past I had worked as a coach trimmer for RR and Bentley (when they were together in Crewe) and a little later I spent time in Newport Pagnell at A-M..

It is very very unlikely that the order's specifications had been changed due to manufacturing reasons (dealer error) ..... Especially interior trim... ( vehicles have been held up coming from paint shop to the construction line due to waiting for the correct shade of leather.. )

Although not ideal... Could the dealer arrange for the incorrect seats to be swopped into your mini?

So sorry to hear this, have you spoke to the dealer principle? If I was you that's what I would be doing and giving him ****. If they are only offering a tank of petrol as compensation, it sounds to me that it's the dealer who has made the error, otherwise why wouldn't they be straight on to MiNI to complain and get it sorted out.
It's a pity MINI don't have an online contact on this forum who you can get to help in situations like this as Land Rover does with the Evoque. Although I must admit I have just ordered a Golf R as my sixth midlife crisis toy :)

I too had the "s**t" seats delivered (as quoted by Terry) but unlike him, I had only ordered the alternate no-cost Pearl Seats. I refused point blznk to have the seats replaced as I was concerned about introducing squeaks and rattles. I got my TLC refunded as goodwill. I would have been fizzin' mad had I ordered the full leather though.....
