That is truly shocking... I just remember how careful our Porsche dealer was when we ordered our Boxster and Cayman...This isn't just an issue we MINI owners have
We went in to collect our new Porsche Boxster GTS yesterday and we too rejected it.
it came early, unannounced, when we were not expecting it until Sept 1st but......
Wrong wheels,
Matt black plastic trims - we ordered gloss
Red seat hoops, we ordered black
no slip diff,
leather steering wheel, knob - we ordered alcantara
no DAB
front and rear parking sensors and camera...we only ordered rear sensors
.....makes us wonder if someone else got our car! Now waiting until nearer Dec for the replacement...fantastic time of year to take delivery of a mid engined, RWD, convertible in NE Scotland.... NOT! At least we've got a few more months to enjoy the C63, every cloud...........
We also went Golf GTi when my wife's Mini was delayed one time too many - I certainly dont regret that decision and after a non too sure start (the electronic parking brake worried her!) she is now of the same opinion. The insurance company have confirmed they will cover my son for a Golf GTi, I'm excited again.
Cheers,
Terry
Mistakes are still made at the factory regardless of spec. Should be impossible but there must still be quite a bit of human input, hence errors, or perhaps just expediency to get the cars out the door "just put those seats in, they'll do" etc.As someone said before it would be worth finding out if your dealer is the problem, and if so ditch them and order somewhere else. Do you have a copy of the signed spec agreement for your evidence? If so I would certainly be pushing for compensation with whoever is at fault.
My sales woman told be that if the car gets delivered with the wrong spec then it was submitted with the wrong spec. I am informed the chances of the factory building the wrong spec is very slim. I asked all this a while back because I wanted to know if there was a chance my car could be delivered wrong.
Well TerryWhilst I can understand people's wish to have a rant at the dealer in these circumstances, it is not my way. I run one of the most frustrating and difficult industrial process you can find, it pays to remain calm in my job.
I vote with my feet and I never walk backwards.
Dealer is more concerned about me sending him a letter he can forward to the DVLA confirming I have not taken the car.
He will have to convince me my deposit has been refunded first.
The insurance company have confirmed they will cover my son for a Golf GTi, I'm excited again.
Mind you the guy at the insurers has been back and forwards so much on this, he said whatever, get an R8 he's covered !!!! I think he may have been joking.
Mini's are a great car, I am disappointed not to have had the chance to own one.
The whole experience is badly let down by dealers with far too much confident swagger and no real concept of customer service.
The dealer in this instance was Sytner, Oldbury.
I leave you to draw your own conclusions.
Cheers,
Terry
I'm not getting the direness of this screwup. So take the car and withhold a suitable amount of money. Let them order-in the right seats and whatever other trim is wrong, if any. When the replacement parts arrive, swap out the wrong ones. Sure, I agree that this shouldn't happen, but I don't see the benefit in making it into a larger problem than it actually is. I have never seen a car where the seats couldn't be removed/replaced in more than a few minutes by someone who's done it before.Left it with them.
Ordered Dark Truffle Leather upholstery.
It had mixed cloth and leather in black.
Left it with them.
September before another can built.
Letting the dealer stew for a few days.
Not sure if I will continue.
Probably true for the front seats, not so easy for the rear seats.I'm not getting the direness of this screwup. So take the car and withhold a suitable amount of money.
