Ok, so my mini is one year old.
It has not been fault free since new:
Seat covers
Exhaust section
USB port
Rear shocks
Electric folding mirror
Window rattle and glass moving

The last problem has been ongoing since May, and all parts have been replaced.

In a moment of being annoyed, I wrote an email rejecting the car; it has, after all been fault free for just a few weeks in my year of ownership.

So, it's the best worst car ever
It is a cooper D, so I get near 70 mpg and loads of performance; I'd put it up against a cooper any day.
Cheap insurance
Servicing payed for
There is no other car I really want; except the new mx5, but I don't really fit

What should I do? Really, suggestions welcome

I agree it's unlikely, and probably unreasonable. However, I couldn't reject on the early, from day one, faults because I couldn't demonstrate them; took 6 months of me driving round not knowing what was happening before diagnosis and fix.

As for the current fault, it's been 6 months and 4 attempts at a fix. The problem is they have replaced everything, but it's still faulty. So if it can't be fixed, I just don't know what can be done.

Well, unless something miraculous happens over night, tomorrow I shall return my mini to the dealer and hand over the key for the last time. I was hoping the mini would be a long term car with built in awesomeness. Unfortunately it has been more unreliable than any car I've ever known. I'm not sure why they just can't fix it, but I'm not a mechanic.

Any way it looks like I'll pick up a new Mazda 2. Had a Mazda previously and they seem fairly bullet proof.

Good luck with your minis.

I took my car back today. So that's the end of that. I was rather annoyed that the manager said they would just fix the car and sell it. If that's the case, why didn't they fix it in the four attempts so far?

Hopefully they will fix it, or someone is going to buy a lemon...

Its a bit of an eye opener....
Im sure there are picky customers, but im sure I was not one of them. Each of my faults might ultimately have been relatively minor, but after a year with problem after problem it gets a bit much. I do think mini, and other manufacturers, should push their dealers a bit harder in matters of customer service. Mini UK just relayed my messages, which may have impacted a little, but not a lot. Ive ordered my new car, and I will be reading the new consumer rights in detail....

The exhaust problem is specific to the diesel. Happens every few hundred miles. Sounds lik the exhaust fell off, or driving through gravel. Quite disconcerting until you find out what it is.
