Where to park my new Mini

7387 Views 30 Replies 11 Participants Last post by  polarisboy385
My car should be arriving soon and I'm wondering what is the best way to go about parking it?

Here in the States we seldom park on the street. Most of us park in parking lots in front of stores. This means there is usually a car parked on either side of your car.

Obviously I don't want my car to get any dings or scratches, so the other option would be to park it on the outskirts of the parking lot (further away from the store), where there are fewer cars parked and chances are you can park without having a car right next to yours.

I'm worried about parking farther away because this will make my Mini stand out, and would this make it more likely to be vandalized?

So which is best, parking it among other cars and risking someone slamming their door into your car, or parking far away and risking it drawing attention?

Sorry if I sound paranoid!

I do the same. Here is my paranoid guide to parking I rigidly follow.
1 Number one park as far away as any one else as you can.
2 try to find the end or wider bay eg next to a fire exit or path
3 if fee long really cheeky out you know the ship or its owners take up 2 spaces. Very naughty this though!
3 park where eg if you are in a hotel or restaurant, you can see the car, and if necessary move it. I did this last week.
4 if you reAlly have to have neighbours park next to cars that look cared for for or are small or have smalldoors eg some 3 door hAtches have huge openiings.
Take note of the neighbour cars eg plate etc. You can confront them if needs be.
5 d don't take the car if you have an alternative ie I take my motor bike to my dentists as their car park is horrid.
6 mind over matter. TRY but I know it's not easy to think it really is just a car. I know not the mini I hear you say. But I dented my wife's last mini with the Hoover which fell over. Dents away paintless repair did a perfect job for £100. Tis only money and he she is worth it

There are clear films eg ventureshield that protect from stone chips but won't prevent dents.

Yes totally agree with mac99 do they think their car needs company? Who knows but it really annoys me. On holiday we parked near the end of a large nature reserve car park in Cornwall. After our walk we returned to find that in spite of a huge empty area some clown in a huge 4x 4 with loads of kids had parked inches from my door. Their in laws were in deck chairs next door with their car so in spite of the fact that I am not too bad(dodgy hips) yelled at the top of her voice how inconsiderate the parking was and with my disability I might struggle to get in and what idiot would do that when the area was so empty. Think the comments would get back!

Now then you two. Tee hee hee. Agree great post and so so glad there are others out there who do the same. My wife and I thought it was just us. Having a dog we have uk cottage holidays. She always looks at the parking before booking. Not sure what well do 're airport parking when we eventuality do get abroad again.noodle door buffers?we're mentioned somewhere..Having seen watch dog I'd be afraid.the thought of them moving it is bad but then they don't bring I'd back,YOU collect it from the pound so that means every dodo coming back from benidorm With the kids could bang your doors. Am in a cold sweat just thinking about it.
That's fantastic. Have often toyed with sewing or gluing strong magnets into a noodle to Attach along the side of the car as a buffer. As you say will this just attract the ribbons? Taxi or rental are options Isuppose
