Came home earlier & locked the car, later someone told me my passenger window was all the way down. Went outside and yes the window was all the way down and car locked.
I never had the window down today.... Is there any reason why this window has gone down on its own ???
Cheers

Could it have been that you left your finger on the open button and the window opened by accident?

That has happened to me before but usually it's not a touch sensitive operation you have to press down firm...

Just have a go that might explain it

The manual seems to describe settings that automatically open windows when the car is unlocked or doors are opened, but that doesn't really describe what happened to you.

Could you unlock, close the window and then lock again?

Definitely ask the dealer...

The amount of electronics related to just the locking of the doors, raising and lowering of windows interlinked to various other parameters on Minis is quite staggering.
It is a wonder most of it works at all!

Something has not worked as it should and must be reported.

In my case I have found the red on/off switch will not kill the engine unless the steering wheel is aimed near enough straight ahead...sometimes, other times no problem.

I have told my dealer about it and I suppose a software update may be released in the future to cure these things as long as those affected tell the dealers, or email head office.

In the meantime I will check my windows when I lock the car!

As with all software problems, the key to fixing it is discovering a set of steps that reproduces the issue.

There's nothing worse for an engineer than "this happened once but I don't know what I did" or "sometimes it does this but sometimes it doesn't".
Maybe the mini keeps internal logs that the service people can access? In that case the sooner they see it the better...

If it happened accidentally through using the remote then both windows would be affected. Either you accidentally put the window down unknowingly or you've got electronic gremlins..... :-(

As an Engineer... I whole heartedly agree! And as a 'technical user' it is equally frustrating to me when I am unable to figure out how to reproduce the problem -- but that is half the challenge!

Well after some web searching it seems to be a problem with previous mini models. The cause seems to be water ingress leading to short circuits, either in the door (locking mechanism) or the footwell (body control unit). But it could all be different for the F56...

I think it probably will become a common issue, and the more common it is and reported, the sooner a fix will be found.
I had the same problem yesterday afternoon...

The window on the passenger side only was halfway down when I returned to the car park after leaving it locked with windows closed.

The driver's side window was still closed fully, and the car had been left for about an hour. The windows had not been opened at all since driving out of my garage that morning.

UK spec car less than 1,000 miles to date.

Going into the dealers next week anyway for warranty work, so the dealer should be looking at this also.

Has anybody had similar window problems recently? If so was have the dealer done to sort it out?

Hi...was this issue ever solved? Just happened to me today...the passenger side window was half way open all on its own.
