I updated the EVO Maps on my F56 XL SatNav from 2016-02 to 2018-01 yesterday.

I found the maps online for free, and to my surprise I didn't need an FSC code to update them. Zero cost upgrade!

I found the link to the torrent file at the link below and downloaded it. They are the Europe Maps.

https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1475899

I used the transmission app to download the files. I then formatted a USB drive as exFAT and copied the contents to it. I plugged it into my F56, it recognised the update and asked if I wanted to update. 40 mins later it was done.

According to the forum, the EVO maps don't need an FSC code, unlike the other maps that BMW use.

No design changes, just updated maps.

Can anyone with the latest map tell me if the Queensferry Crossing has been added. It is the new bridge over the Firth of Forth.

For all of us Scottish owners it is quite important to have this revision so we are no longer driving on water when going between Edinburgh and Fife. Google shows it running between EH30 9YH and KY11 1HP and has it labelled as the M90.

Would also be good to know that the re-routed M8 has now been fixed so you are not told to "make a U turn when possible" when driving to and from Glasgow on the motorway.

Just finished the update to 2018-2. Took about 36 hours to download using the free account (just left it overnight) and then 45 mins to an hour to save to the car.

Used a 64GB SD card and USB card reader (the files are now more than 32GB when expanded).

As well as the Queensferry crossing it looks like the new M8 junctions are also in there.

Thanks guys. For some reason I didn't realise there were specific maps! I thought EVO may have just been the guys providing the torrent.

I successfully downloaded NEXT Europe 2018-02, loaded it on to a USB and installed it. I had to purchase an FSC code for £30 online to begin the install though, which is fine with me as it is a lot cheaper than taking it to the stealer.

I'm aware you can generate your own fsc codes with the correct know how, but I was happy paying someone to generate one for me as I just wanted it installed.

Thanks for the help all!

Yeah as Dan says, you have the NEXT maps. The links in this thread are for the EVO maps, so that probably explains why it isn't working /forum/images/smilies/tango_face_smile.png

Didn't need any code, the display just told me the device I had connected contained updated files and asked if I would like to upload them.

Sorry ,I don't have access to a cloud based large storage area, but like I said it wasn't too much of an issue to download the files from the link already given. If you don't want to use an existing email just set up a new junk account and register with MEGA using that, then you can just pull the files down.

Downloaded and updated using the 2018-2 maps tonight. Nice and easy.

What I have been using is a 64gb SSD hard drive (usb). I partitioned this in windows 7 but DID NOT format it. Windows 7 cannot format FAT32 volumes above 32gb, even when the standard allows far greater.

I downloaded a free formatting tool that formatted the drive to the full 64gb FAT32.

Expanded the files on to the root of the drive, plugged it in the car and bingo. Maps update and job done.

I've managed to download the file (but not tried it in the car yet). What I've discovered when downloading without a paid subscription is after a while the download stops and gives a 'Data download failed: Server returned 509 (over quota)'. But this can be overcome by using an open https proxy server or VPN to trick the MEGA server into thinking you are a different user. The download then continues until the next quota is hit. At this point you just make the VPN or proxy change again. If you don't want to do this, just try the download every 12 hours and eventually you'll get the whole file.

For info, I used the 'megadl' command on ubuntu linux (part of the megatools package).

Successfully updated to EVO Europe 2018-02.

The link from MEGA works as others have said. The free tier downloads a 5GB chunk, then waits for 6 hours, then downloads another 5GB chunk etc until you have the 23GB compressed file. I extracted it to a exFAT formatted USB Stick and it updated when plugged into the car. Maps all up to date!
