Ignition (start/stop) button light comes on spontaneously

Hi @Shae I never experienced this behavior but you mentioned car camping.

I’m wondering if the key fob is left inside the MINI will this cause the ECU or other modules not to fully turn off or sleep which in return will intermittently wake the Start-Stop switch 🤔

- If so this could be normal behavior…

In the next few days I plan to wash-detail my MINI (weather permitting) and I will leave the key fob inside and see what happens.

Hi @AlisonY thank you for replying to this thread. I forgot to post my update/findings a while ago.

Leaving the key fob inside the MINI (unlocked or locked) will intermittently cause the Start-Stop switch to illuminate multiple times at random. This behavior will stop once the key fob is outside the MINI and it’s locked.

With your Countryman I wonder if the ECU is not fully going into its sleep state after being locked 🤔

- The buzzing sound is the high pressure fuel pump priming. With this behavior occurring all night that would discharge the battery.

I would contact a MINI Service Center to be diagnosed/scanned. Maybe a module/sensor is not functioning properly or maybe there’s a grounding issue.

Keep up posted and I hope this points you in the right direction -Rich
