Just called the dealer to swap the cable and told they have to actually have the car in the workshop to check it over! Seems strange as all they are doing is giving me a new Mode 2 cable. They said they have to see the car as it is an official recall. So I have asked them to do the seasonal health check, car wash and fluid top up at the same time as I have the Service pack. It’s booked in for Saturday 20th Feb, I will let you know how I get on 😀

Dropping into my local dealer in Dublin in an hour to swap out the cables. Thankfully quieter in work today.

 

How can we tell if we have the old charger. Mine is a March 2020 build. Would they have replaced the charger before I picked it up on the 6th Jan?

 

The notice says they have only just received them, but they may have been providing the news ones with cars for a while as far as I know. I had a notification in the Mini app and the Mini Connected app, so if you have not had the notification I think you may not need one. Ask your dealer?

 

I must have a look at it. Probably has a date of manufacture somewhere like most Mini parts.

 

Here is the part that is the issue, as you can see the tail of the plug is quite long and not bendable so it stops the plug seating properly in outside sockets. If yours is not like this then it won’t need replacement I suspect.

Checked mine this morning. The car was a start of December delivery and it's the newer one.

One thing from my delivery was that it didn't come with a bag for the charge leads, which I thought was standard but the dealer said they had stopped supplying.

The dealer gave me a bag from the demo car, but has anyone who's had a recent delivery found that there was or wasn't a bag for the leads?

Seems like penny-pinching if Mini has stopped supplying them.
