Hello all!
My 2015 Mini One has an infrequent drivetrain error. The car is the 1.2 litre turbo 3 cylinder.
Occasionally, when pressing the start button, the engine won’t tick over. A drivetrain issue appears on the dash. This disappears after shutting down the car and restarting it again, as if nothing has ever happened!
I’ve noticed during cold starts in particular, the car will start up as normal then the revs will begin to fall until the engine cuts out completely, requiring manual restarting again.
On top of this, there have been times when the engine ‘start stop’ function will not restart the engine after depressing the clutch (instead, the same drivetrain error appears). I have to completely shut down the car and then restart it.
On one occasion, the car wouldn’t turn over, so I shut it down and then restarted the car as I normally would, except there was an amber engine warning light. I felt a significant decrease in engine responsiveness and performance. Essentially the car was in limp-home mode.
I don’t know if all these issues are interlinked. I’ve heard theories that it could be turbo bearing issue, or a fuel injector problem, or perhaps a starter motor fault. Hoping experts here can help me out a little, would love to hear any similar stories or thoughts of how to proceed. Thanks for your time!
