Hey folks đź‘‹

I have a 2016 F56 non-nav headunit with 6.5" display.

I know there's been a few posts on this, but I'm trying to figure it out and can't seem to find the answer. I've seen this screen on eBay, is it just a case of unscrewing the 6.5" screen from the trim and screwing in the 8.8" screen or do I need to change the trim and ring around it too?

I know it'll need coding, is there anything else that would need doing?

Yes - you need the screen and the surrounding plastics. The trim for the 8.8” screen is all different than the trim for the 6.5” screen. The hazard and radio buttons can swap over, though.
Thanks, have ordered off eBay a complete unit with buttons and ring for ÂŁ299. Do you which bits need coding?

Hi - this thread has the details:

Thanks, will take a look!

That looks really good, plus the ÂŁ300 for the screen and surround is a bit of a bargain - I've been looking for a while but only seen examples with damaged screen for that kind of cash.

Can you let me know what coding was needed to get the screen to work and was it done on Bimmercode?

Thanks in advance!
what sort of damage are you seeing? The one I bought had the anti-reflective coating coming off, but I just wiped it all off and found a matte screen protector online:)

for coding, I followed the guide linked above!

Yes it is the anti-reflective coating looking patchy that put me off - was it easy to remove? Thanks for the heads u on the link, I read through it in the past but noted the coding wasn't done via Bimmercode, which I have. Thanks for your help with this, sounds like I can pick up a used screen and sort it myself.
yeah took me about 30 minutes or so with some anti-bacterial wipes:)

ah yeah I used BimmerCode, just followed the same steps in the expert mode!

it’s all in the head unit section.

HU_ENTRYNAV > EXBOX > DISPLAY_VARIANTE = "breites_display"

HU_ENTRYNAV > HMI > DISPLAY_SIZE_RESOLUTION = "8.8_1280x480"

Then:

CID_DISPLAY_RES: 1280_480 [02]
CID_DISPLAY_SIZE: 8_8 [03]

The second two are only needed if you have a reversing camera!

it’s all in the body domain controller section.

I also did cornering front fog lights if that’s something you fancy!
