Anyone having issues with playing music on iPhone? (iOS 11)

Hi all,

Had been putting off the iOS 11 update on my 7 Plus since it popped up the other week however on Sunday my phone updated during the night (I probably okayed it without thinking).

Since the update, Visual Boost cant seem to pull my now-playing information from my phone over bluetooth or USB. It just shows 'Unknown' for the artist, song, and album, as well as a progress bar which goes from 0:00 to 0:00. Music plays if selected on my phone, but if I try to skip a track using any of the car controls the music stops and I have to manually start it on my phone.

Obviously I was fairly sure it was my phone, so I've been doing all the small updates that have became available however this still hasn't fixed it. Is it likely there may be a software update needed for my car?

Or if anyone else has had the same issue how did you resolve it?

Cheers!

My difficulties I've experienced since upgrading to iOS 11:

- My F54 will sometimes not recognize my phone at all for BT Audio, but it will for phone calls. Re-pairing fixes it for a bit, but then it disappears off the source list again

- Podcasts will also reset to the beginning after pausing and resuming using the volume knob. VERY frustrating when I need to mute a podcast for a bit.

- MINI Connected stuff is a lot more erratic too. Worked fine with iOS 10

Had similar issues with my F22 - it would only play one song via USB connection and wouldn't show any data via Bluetooth, i.e. couldn't change songs or anything.

However, since iOS 11.0.1 was released (we're now on 11.0.3) it has worked perfectly.

Apologies guys, been working off-site so haven't been active since posting this thread.

I've been religiously checking for updates on my phone and letting it do any that are available.

Stability seems to be getting a bit better with each update however I'm still occasionally getting the issue where the car won't pull any 'Now Playing' info from my iphone.

Just going to keep checking for updates regularly.

On a side note, does anyone use mini connected with visual boost on an iphone? I don't have navigation in my F56 so I honestly can't see much use for it?

Thanks,
Kieran

Mini Connected has changed, initially it had fun features, like "Mission Control" which would give random voices telling you useless information about the car. Then a new version came along that removed all this, now it seems only useful for pre programming your navigation with addresses before you get in the car. It seems you can do that from your calendar or you can "send to" Mini Connected. You can also see your fuel level and where you last unplugged your phone from the car.

I can't help but feel, like a lot of modern car design, because you can doesn't mean you should, is a good description of the Mini Connected app.

I think I picked up my F56 after the update that you mentioned, I've tried the app a few times and it doesn't really seem to have any features of note...

try going into the car bluetooth settings & go through 'forget this device' & set it back up as a new device. this can clear problems when it becomes unreliable. also a hard switch off of your phone can help
Downloaded one of the iOS updates last week which mentioned something about music fixes, as well as doing as you've said - seems to have solved it! Cheers

So I?m currently sitting in Mini with a busted infotainment system, I have the IPhoneX but I?ve had it for 5 days and it?s been running IOS11.1 and all was well till today I was making a call on the Bluetooth and all of a sudden the infotainment system rebooted kicking my call off Bluetooth then back on, and the call carried on and it continued to do this through out the call, so I pulled over and locked the car essentially turn it off and on again and drive off all ok till my next call and it continued to reboot, so annoying till it rebooted again this time wiping my Nav and Bluetooth devices and not letting me reconnect to the Bluetooth system, I have a 2016 F55
