Hi, new to this for forum and I’m thinking of buying my first Mini. I’m looking at a new/nearly new manual Mini Cooper. I was after a bit of advice as to what options I should be looking at/avoid. I would like the armrest and was wondering if this is easy to retrofit if I get a nearly new one that doesn’t have it fitted. Any other advice is appreciated. Thanks

Other options are very subjective I think. I like auto climate control, rain sensors, winter stuff (front windshield defroster, heated seats) but a lot of that depends where you live (I'm in Canada :)
You can have luxury stuff like Harmon Kardon sound system, navigation, etc. or sporty stuff like dynamic damper control, 18 inch wheels, ... All depends on what is important to you.
With Mini, the choices are endless and your wallet is usually the limit.

Personally buy one with as many options YOU want as you can. Not so easy second hand as buying new. Think what you like/need and set a budget as you can go mad. Adding anything other than actual non electric parts to our cars is VERY difficult! Is arm 'rest is fine to add but folding mirrors or reverse sensors tricky/expensive!

Depends on the climate where you live, here in Scotland things like heated seats and heated windscreen and wing mirrors that de-mist are very useful to have. I find the HUD handy as it means less moving your eyes off the road (but my wife hates it).

Then it really is personal preference, I used to do a lot of motorway miles and found the active cruise control handy, as it is part of the driver assistance pack this also gives you the parking assistance and speed sign recognition which can be useful.

I have never found a sunroof is something I like as I think it makes the car hotter in the sun and must be heavier than a metal roof, if I want a convertible then I would just buy a soft top.
