Do I have Dynamic Damper Control?

Hey fellow minions,
How do tell if I have the dynamic damper? I cant find any options for turning it on/off or adjusting the strength, I remember reading somewhere it was possible to modify the settings (+-10%) but cant seem to find anything in the settings menu, and from about 5 hours of driving I cant tell a significant difference between the stiffness of the suspension between the different driving modes ... I checked on the BMW Vin decoder and it shows that my car has option 223 - Dynamic Damper Control,

Thanks,

Go to Settings > Driving mode > Configure Sport and make sure that Drivetrain and Chassis are checked. You don't have the ability to make any adjustments other than on/off. Mid mode is normal, Green is softer and Sport is +10 firmer.
You can open the bonnet and if you have wires going to the top of the dampeners then you for sure have DDC.

Hey,

I don't feel any difference between green or mid modes. To me both have same stiffness. If there is a literature about this I would be happy to read. As I have replied above to another post, to me G and M modes are normal suspension and it does get stiffer in Sport mode.

There are only two settings, not three and you cannot modify the stiffness beyond the presets:
- GREEN/MID: 10% softer than stock suspension
- SPORT: 10% stiffer than stock suspension if "DRIVETRAIN AND CHASSIS" are selected in Driving Mode settings for SPORT mode, 10% softer than stock if "DRIVETRAIN" only is selected.

I can definitely notice the difference, especially when I go over a bump or small pothole :p

An old post but I just was thinking about DDC and searched online. I don't think we have a 10% soft setting in Green/Mid mode. To me the Green/Mid is stock/normal suspension and it would be 0 on the scale. Then switching to sport, we get +10% from normal/stock suspension. According to your post, it seems that we never able to drive in normal suspension mode. Maybe some one can shed more light?

I tried to look today and wasn't too sure if the wires I saw were the ones, phone wasn't cooperating today so couldn't take a picture, will upload one tomorrow to double check... I honestly can't feel a noticeable difference between settings... Regarding the sport driving mode config, in my previous f56 which didn't have a variable damping system, still had the chassis option...

This is the harness to the dampeners. The way I understand it, if DDC is not equipped the Chassis setting will still weight the steering. As sirius said the difference is very noticeable.

Following this post as of today. I don't have any settings for the chassis. It doesn't even show up. It doesn't look like the struts have any wiring. I do have the Mini driving modes though. Is it safe to say that my car does not have the DDC option ? Going to be getting a lowering kit soon and need to figure this out. Any recommendations on a kit ?
In advance, thanks

The wires at the struts are really obvious so if you don't see them, then you don't have DDC. If you want to be doubly sure type in the last part of your VIN here: VIN decoder and it will give you the full spec on your car. In the options section it will say something like "223 Dynamic Damper Control".

To my knowledge no but I’d have to see if I have anything saved from the F series launch.
You’re only talking a 10% difference and Sport mode has always been more noticeable to me than Mid since it weights the steering also.

I have the DDC and it is good for such a cheap (for MINI) option. If I was buying again I would leave as standard and replace the dampers with Koni Special Active. Previously called Koni FSD I had them on a R53 and a R56. Hit a pothole they are soft, corner and they are stiffer. I am a big fan of FSD/Special Actives.
