Hi Rokfor

I have now checked the shafts and the angels, in my test heating unit have I installed the shaft and the insert and the blend door is stopped in closed and open position as it should.

How much are temperature difference do you have between left and right side if you select full cold on both?

What do you mean with "The low pressure side is in the red." ?

Best Regards,
Peter

It’s the same temp on both sides. My low pressure is at 120 and my high pressure is at 150, so there is something else wrong.

Hi Nighthawk

My pictures are from a left driven model (steering wheel in left side) same as in US.
The heating unit is the same no matter what side the steering wheel is in.
The most failures are on the right side. You need to identify if you have broken stops or shaft.
If you have broken stops can you choose between my "heater-fix" or "Stop repair".
You can find all information about the kits and shipping on my webshop

Hi Air-mech,

Looks like I would need the full repair kit. If I do get the full repair kit with the drill bit and everything, I am wanting to know if this allow me to fully adjust the temperature on the right side again from the controls, or if it is only all the way hot or all the way cold. I would like to be able to let me passenger decide the temperature they want again.

Hi NightHawk86

I'm not sure I fully understand.
What side left or right do you have the broken shaft?
If one side works - great - let the passenger use that - I guess the right side?

Hi Air-mech,

Sorry for the confusion. I own a Left-Handed Drive F56 (United States). On the Passenger side, it will only blow HOT air and nothing else, even when I turn the temperature down to the lowest setting for that side (60 Degrees Fahrenheit). The driver's side AC works perfectly, and I can adjust the temperature with no issue. I removed the Actuator for the Passenger side, and the shaft that goes in it is broken. I am wondering, since the shaft is broken, will your full repair kit allow the passenger to adjust the temperature like normal? or does it only allow fully hot or fully cold?

I hope this explains better what I am asking. I just want to make sure I can adjust the temperature on both sides like I originally could before it did this.

Hi Nighthawk
Thank you for the explanation.
My kit will repair the shaft and by that you will get full control of the temperature again.
To be fully honest have thee or four persons had an additional issue - there's a interconnection shaft between two blend doors, if that's is broken will you not be able to repair. My guss is a one percent chance of that.
- sorry when you ask a technician you get a complicated answer - if you had asked a sales person had he just said "Yes" :)
My broken shaft kit, is like a fork that connect to the blending door and then a insert is installed in the room under the actuator. This will also restore the travel stops. The actuator will be installed in the original position.

Hello I have a same problem I just open that part is broken how did you fix that broken shaft . Can you please advice thanks
My local garage fabricated a part to replace the broken one. I think he added a plastic spacer so that the gears engaged with the actuator. It saved taking the dash out. Now I only move the airflow twice a year, in summer for face and winter for screen. I’m not complaining though as my 2016 1200cc F56 Mini One has 126k on the clock and that’s the only issue!

Hi Deeque

Please note that we have investigated a lot into this issue - There are two common issues with this heating unit Broken stops or a broken shaft both issues can be fixed - I sell some kits to address both issues. In 99 % or the cases will you get full control of the temperature again.

To identify what your issue are will you need to remove the actuator and by hand turn the shaft

- If you are able to rotate the shaft 70 degrees between hot and cold and you have the fault codes or that the system stops in full cold (some times full hot) is your issue broken stops.
My Heater fix or stop repair kit will help you.

- If you can rotate the shaft more than the 70 degrees or are missing the shaft are your shaft broke off the mixing flap.
Here will my Broken shaft kit help you if it is on the right side - if it is on the left please write to me and I will still be able to help.

Thanks for making contact. My issue was direction of blowers not working. I think it was a broken gear spindle on the heater box but adding a spacer restored the use. Good to know you can fix it if it goes wrong again.

Air-mech, are these the pictures from a Left-Hand Drive Mini? I am looking for a way to fix my Passenger side A/C on my 2014 Mini Cooper S. Driver's side works amazingly, and the passenger side is constantly blowing hot air. I took it into the shop and they said the actuator was working perfectly fine, but the flap was broken. I cannot afford $2,800 right now and really need to get the Air working on the Passenger side. I live in California and it is getting extremely hot here. Is there a Video to show what I need to check? That way I can order the kit from you.
NghtHawk, I’m having the same issue and have been searching into the weee hours of the night trying to find a solution other than having the shop replace the heater box.
Yesterday I dove into this myself to see if I could remove the actuator and physically turn the fan to blow cold air rather than hot (I live in S. Florida) reinstall the actuator and leave it in plugged so it doesn’t turn. Well, upon removing the actuator I found that shaft that goes through the air box had broke and fallen in. Now I’m seeing these kits available to fix the issue. I too am looking for video or very detailed instructions on how to install one of these and also how to recover the flap that’s fallen into the box.
Have you had any luck with your repair?

Hello
I found your website from France and am so happy to read there might be an issue to my heating problems. (I tried to do my best to write in english but sorry for the mistakes). It appears I have 2 different problems on my BMW X1 F48 (2017). Please note this is a Left-Handed Drive car. Such as in the USA.
1/ On the driver side, the shaft is broken (the part that was initially in the actuator fell off inside the heating system when I dismantled the actuator). The blending door was stuck at first, hard to move but finally I could move it easily about 70°. I think the "repair kit" is necessary. But is the one proposed suitable for the left side (driver side in France) ? Or is there any modification to make in order to adapt it ?
2/ On the passenger side, the system did not work either (always hot at the end). When taking out the actuator, the shaft appears to be fine, and the blending door can move easily about 70°. So the problem might come from the actuator. I plan to buy a new actuator and add the "stop repair kit" to not have any problem in the future. Do you agree with my analysis and conclusion ?
Thank you for your answer and the time spent to help people ;)
Eric
