Sat Nav Updates - ROUTE ENTRYNAV.

Hi all. I have a 66 plate Clubman diesel with ROUTE ENTRYNAV Sat Nav mapping.

When purchased last year I got the dealer to update the maps and then earlier this year downloaded and updated to 2020-1 without any issues or codes.

I tried to update to 2020-2 but it wanted a FSC CODE. On this version these are One Code per Update at around £35-£50 depending where you go.

I saw over the weekend a link from SATNAVUPDATES.NET with a discount code and link to the latest download 2021-1 MAP.

All in this was £35 with discount, amazing service. Code back within the hour. Link to a fast download (took less than an hour for 20gb and I have had all sorts of issues recently with paid for sites).

The email had a FSC Code and link / key to download. Opened the attached PDF instructions, used the USB Format tool, then the download tool, copied to USB. Put the USB in the car today, update started, entered the FSC code and 30 minutes later new map installed.

I have looked at the ANDREAM unit but prefer the MINI Mapping service so will stick to that.

Excellent service, help guides and price. try them for any other type of map or update.

From other posts on satnav updates is seems Mini used to allow free updates during warranty (not sure if this is years or count of updates ) then the code is required.

I went down the route of buying a lifetime code and now just find free update downloads. My car started on 2015 maps and is now running 2020-3 maps having had a few updates in between.

Depends if they can feedback things like speed to the 3rd party satnav. The only upside of a built in nav is that it can keep registering motion (from the cars sensors) when radio signals are lost. Doesn't happen as much as it used to but there are probably still some phone and GPS signal blackspots which would make a phone based system lose your location.

The A1 from Newcastle up towards Edinburgh has very poor DAB and phone data signals so if you were using a GPS that relied on these alone you could lose position tracking.
