Hello everyone, just bought a JCW 2018 model and first thing wanted to change was the exhaust…!
I called the dealership in order to book an appointment and surprisingly they told me that the pro exhaust is not compatible with my car! After a lot of research I found out that this is due to GPF.
Do you maybe have any recommendation? I wouldn’t like to remap it just want a bit more pops and bangs and ideally to have a valve that can switch on and off.
Armytrix has a nice exhaust system but is a bit pricy.
Many thanks in advance

You won't get pops and bangs from just an exhaust, these need mapping back in. An exhaust will give you a louder sound and more burbles.
Our GPF car pops a couple times on startup but then nothing while driving. The pre GPF car I'm still amazed it's a stock exhaust as it pops and bangs all day long.

Freaking GPF!! I’m so gutted :( is the remapping bad for the engine/car?

As mentioned as well as an exhaust you'll also need a remap on a LCi car to get the pops/ bangs as these were indeed mapped out due to the EU regs (i think).
There are a few vids on youtube
If you want the louder pops/ bangs you'll need the GPF removing and with this you'll need a remap to keep the EML off and stop the car going into limp mode.

Many thanks for the response! My understanding is that if you remove the GPF it will be difficult to pass MOT and is subject to get a hefty fine. Is that right? Just so unlucky that the pro exhaust fits older and newer models but not mine which is 2018!! The stock sounds okay on the sport mode but just needs a little more 😅
On a different note, what is you opinion about stage 1 upgrade on the JCW? A mini mechanic told me that most of the broken engine minis had modifications and ECU.

The B48 is a pretty reliable platform and can take a stage 1 remap. I haven't gone this route as your recommended to run 99 fuel, change the spark plugs heat range and I'd want to do breather mods also to get the most out of the remap.
I believe they can just map the pops and bangs back in, I did consider a resonator delete also but from watching videos it sounds too loud for what I want.

Hi,

I have been doing a lot of research into this as my wife has an 18 plate mini JCW built in June 2018 and luckily does not have the OPF on her car it took the dealer a while to do the research.
Any way there are two part numbers the original JCW Pro exhaust which would require cutting and welding ( not ideal) retails around £1600
Then there is the JCW tuning kit this requires no modifications to the car and fits minis produced from May 2018 (The dealer could not get the part number but luckily a fellow mini driver from the US posted it on here and the dealer in the UK had to reach out to Germany for confirmation) cost £825

hope this helps

There are 2 part numbers for the pro exhaust as 1 has a silencer and the other (as fitted to Works 210 cars) is straight through.

I didn't know about a JCW tuning kit for 2018> cars? any more info?

I too just bought the 2018 Cooper Hardtop JCW and will be adding CAI/Stage1 DME tune from Dinan. I have had great success with Dinan in the past with my Bimmers so there is no surprise with technology and R&D. They do carry exhaust systems on their site as well. You may want to look into it.....https://www.dinancars.com/products/exhaust-systems/

BTW: I bought my Car outa state in the US and have never driven a Mini period......It's being shipped this week so I will see how it drives!
