Media XL - playing music

Just collected a Mini Cooper S 2014 plate at the weekend and despite searching on the internet I cannot fathom out how to play music from an external source i.e.. I pod. I am connecting into the USB port.........I have the media XL pack but no handbook with it and am trying to fathom everything out and managing to do so apart from this......any help would be very appreciated.

From the main menu, go to MULTIMEDIA, then EXTERNAL DEVICES. This should bring up options to access USB (for iDevices, USB flash drives, etc.), Bluetooth Audio, and the AUX port.

If USB is not listed, despite you're having it plugged in, you could have a bent USB plug. They are known to be fragile. It's a quick and easy repair, but is a little pricey for the part. I paid USD $50 for it.
