Whats the best way of transporting my bike?

Hi all,

Seen a few threads on this, but none that really answer my question. I'm trying to get back into mountain biking and kinda assumed that finding an appropriate carrier would be pretty easy. Turns out that from what I've read, most boot racks, even for F56, don't play nice with the JCW spoiler. What are the best options? Happy to go for a boot of roof-based solution :)

Considerations are:-

1. Ease of fitting - needs to be something i can put onto the car with minimal effort.
2. Potential to damage car - i'm a Klutz at times, let's try and de-risk the potential to damage my car.
3. Cost - with funds somewhat limited by the FD at the moment, it needs to be reasonably economical.
4. Potential to carry multiple bikes - i generally carry my own bike and meet up with a buddy to ride with, but would be nice if the solution is capable of accommodating on of the kids bikes (for
instance).

Thanks in advance :)

Go and see your dealer there is a proper bike rack preparation that can be retro fitted. there is a thread on here of someone who copied minis and made their own. Essentially the towing eye is replicated both sides of rear bumper and rods simply(!)slot in! Dealer wont be cheap though!

We use a Saris Bones 2 bike rack. It's tricky to set up the first time and there is a knack to getting the hooks over the top spoiler. Even with 2 heavy bikes it's rock solid. Only drawback is the number plate is obscured. I always clean the paint around where the straps/hooks touch and there are no marks. Should work with a JCW roof spoiler.

What Big Will said.

You can get a metal bike mounting kit that rests on the rear door/trunk/boot with straps and foam for 2/3 bikes.

I usually fold the rear seats and take my wheels off and lie two bikes down with foam between them / when it rains heavy I don't have to worry about dirt or salt damaging my running gear or frame.
