Usually a sticker on the car saying build date-the month it was made governs the service indicator too so if you look at brake fluid it is due a change 3 years from build date so go in there look at month and year for change and subtract 3 years!

This meddling by Eurocrats really Peeves me off ! I live in a rural area and have to listen to Bikers Screaming along from miles away. Yet WE are subject to cars that sound fake or lifeless ! Thought about chopping my F55 S in for a Newer JCW LCI, but this sound reduction put me off! Shame ! The Future looks more and more sterile ? ? Just out of interest does anyone know when the GPF was introduced on the JCW ?

i agree paultwub61 its a bit of a joke i have the standard s and it sounds pretty naff other than the cold start each day.
i believe the jcw were fitted with gpf/ppf filters from march 2019 the cooper s was about a year before i think.

Bikers simply put an illegal exhaust on then replace for mot although some testers turn a blind eye. Baffles are easily removed and replaced too unlike cars. Annoys me too and am a biker. There aren't any police to catch them though!

There's a guy in Milton Keynes area that does a mod to the back box and frees up some noise, he is on insta and Facebook also plenty of vids on you tube if you type in pcw exhaust mod to give you an idea.
Hope this helps a bit.

Still not change for any exhaust system.
The JCW 2019 GPF is great s*** It won't allow almost any exhaust available in the market.
I would like to change mine (stock ) to a valved version. But I was told that exchange it without GPF and Cat delete, it would do almost nothing. That it wouldn´t worth it.

What is your opinion about it.

Don't forget that GPF and CAT delete is not an option. (MINI Warranty matters to me)
So no new downpipes or what so ever.

What are my option?

I don´t want it very loud. Only ear some more engine sound. Because the LCI GPF version is so lame. NO pop and bangs.. Not MINI heritage.
The new GP make much more engine sound on stock exhaust than the JCW both GPF models...
EU regulations aren't the same???

I was thinking... tell me if I'm wrong or go the wrong way...
If the GPF and CAT suppress "almost" all the engine sound. The rear final muffler.. if I take it out and install a straight pipe with 2 end tips just for the look. Would that make the job with less money, than install a "REMUS" valved and still no engine sound or very few.

Please even if it sound awkward, give me your thoughts.
Directions advise needed.

Thank you.

So I was under the impression MINI artificially create the pops and bangs by overfueling. I guess they can't do that now as it would damage the GPF.
Sort of, it's anti-lag, keeps the turbo spooled and sharpens throttle response when you're back on it.

Edited to apologise for the inadvertent resurrection 😂

Okay guys.
To add to the discussion, I just found the ultimate low-cost solution for louder and more impressive exhaust sound ...

1. Start with this
70460

2. Then do this
70461

3. And then finally remove this
70463

Voila!
For as low as 0$ you get 150% exhaust sound, louder pops and bangs (if you had any in the first place) and a ridiculously satisfying hissing sound when you give it more throttle!

No, seriously. I had to move my wife's plants like this and i was amazed with how different the overall soundtrack was. Now i want to keep the rear seats folder all the time :D

70465

70464

I second keeping the the rear seats folded. The soundtrack is way much clearer and louder!!!!

Hello,

I just installed on my 2019 jcw the pro exhaust but finally they left the gpf filter on the car. So again the car has no pops and bangs.
Do you believe removing the filter bring having pops and bangs while driving ?
I am afraid that removing the filter will only make the car very loud even with the flap closed (having also droning). What is your opinion ?
Does anyone has already made this mode ?
Very confused indeed.

AFAIK just removing the filter is not enough, you also need a specific engine map.
From what I heard, pro exhaust with flap closed is similar to regular exhaust or even more subtle, but cannot be sure, best to ask someone with Pro to demonstrate.

The pro is quieter with the flap closed. When I replaced my stock JCW exhaust with the pro, it introduced a drone.
With the exhaust flap opened, its louder and the pops and bangs are much louder too.

Then you don't have a GPF so you can fit what you like or will fit, even a JCW Pro exhaust - cat back.

People get confused when it comes to LCI cars and GPF's, certainly between the Cooper S and JCW.

Just to re-confirm the GPF's were fitted to the Cooper S from May 2018 on-ward, the GPF will be fitted to JCW's after March 2019 - NO JCW manufactured before March 2019 have a GPF fitted.

All the JCW's sold after Feb 2018 are old stock until the new model comes out in March 2019 - I hope this makes sense.

As for your car not popping and banging, I think you need to try harder:D

Hi Rob,

Do you have any idea how much a GPF delete would cost?
