Wouldnt it be nice if MINI;

a) communicated to their customers what the rules are regarding updates
b) made the updates available for download, like they do for BMWs.

Wishful thinking I guess! I don't think its too much to ask.

I see Mini are including sat nav updates as part of the pay monthly service plan they offer, so probably another reason they limit the number of free updates from new.

This worked for me and all installed in my 2016 Cooper S with XL, no code needed. My previous version was EVO 2106-2 so I assume it has never been updated. Mega download for 2019-4 (Europe)

I’m learning that it can’t be done from a Mac is that right? Seems to be where my problem lies, loading the files on to USB from a Mac. Has anyone else done it from a Mac and if so what was the trick?

I have a macbook pro and no problem, use your Disk Utility and format the drive/usb stick as ExFat, extract the file through RAR extractor, once done move the contents of the folder onto the route directory of your Drive/USB stick. So when you open your USB it should look like the image below! Hope this helps bud

Forgot to say its about 38GB, so make sure your USB drive is large enough

Apologies if this has already been asked/answered but have you tried a different USB drive?

Yes I’ve tried a 128gb USB 3.0 and a 64gb USB 2.0

Car doesn’t seem to recognise the 3 at all and the 2 does as I’ve said above.

It‘s the fact the LED ring responds that annoys me, it clearly knows there’s something there but just doesn’t engage! It reacts when I remove the USB at the end of the video too. I’m just simply going to have to be a sucker that takes it to my local stealer and pays a stupid sum to do it aren’t I

There must be some way to get it going if it’s working for others. May give it a try myself after Christmas.

Is there any chance of bricking the multimedia system with this process or is the worst case scenario that it just doesn’t update?

Just thinking...it could still be a USB issue......maybe both of them are incompatible.

Are you able to play music through the media player from either of those sticks?

Yes the USB works fine for music, just tried it by adding an MP3 file.
This is the USB drive contents. And also my current map version.

I see your folder structure doesn’t match the one posted above......I wonder if it hasn’t extracted properly.

Maybe @tigerblu will have an idea of what’s gone wrong when they see your folder structure.

Sorry I couldn’t be of any help. I won’t get time to mess with this until next week.
